to the Abergavenny Badminton Club website.
We are a friendly, competitive badminton club with a varied age base from Juniors to seniors of varying standards from league to national. We have a very healthy attendance and try to maintain a competitve standard of badminton. CLUB / MATCH NIGHTS We are heading towards the end of the 2025-2026 season and will soon operate in a Summer Club mode - this effectovely means everyone (members or visitors) plays on a pay-as-you-go basis. In the regular season, our regular club night is on a Tuesday from 7pm - 9pm. Due to a healthy growth in player numbers, we sometimes book an additional court to allow more games between 7pm - 8pm. Our match nights are on a Friday evening between 7pm - 10pm. VISITING / JOINING We welcome any potential new players. But we do request that new players be of an appropriate standard. The topic of "playing standard" is very subjective. You may feel you are not that good but others may think you are very reasonable. Some may think they are very good while others feel you really aren't! Therefore, it is always difficult to assess someone's playing standard and ability without possibly seeing you play. How do you know if you are the right playing standard? Maybe you could come and watch a club night? If you feel you could play at the standard played at the club night then please attend. We tend to suggest that you attend for 3 sessions and by agreement (yourself and the club) we will no doubt agree suitability. We try to look past issues of "lack of fitness" or "rusty play" due to an abscence from the game and we realise that it may take some time for form to return. But we must try to gauge standard somehow in order to make sure the club remains competitive for the leagues that we enter teams into. Ultimately, there is a fine line between maintining a good club standard and turning potential good talent away.
